Modifying bank definitions

Overview

The clone memory image read from the receiver includes far more than just the 2000 main memories. Because the program uses the receiver's Clone function to upload changes to the memories it is necessary to acquire an up-to-date image otherwise you will find other settings may be changed back to an earlier state.

The recommended sequence of events is:-

  a) make a backup image of the receiver using the 'Read VR5000' button

  b) make changes as detailed below

  c) perform a restore of the amended image to the receiver

Adding a bank  To add a new bank definition click the Add Bank command in the Banks menu.

Making Changes

Each of the cells in an occupied row can be edited in-place.

Bank Tag The name of the Bank

Link Several banks can be linked together and treated as one bank for scanning purposes. Type Y in the Link column of each bank you wish to join together, and N for each bank to be scanned separately.

ScanStop - Setting the Scan-Resume technique for a bank:

Delay In this mode the scanner will halt on a signal it encounters, and will hold until the signal disappears. After the squelch closes when the received station quits transmitting, scanning resumes automatically after the time interval specified by M_P.DELAY.

Pause In this mode the scanner will halt on a signal it encounters, and will resume after the time interval specified by M_PAUSE

Hold In this mode the scanner will halt on a signal it encounters, and will not restart automatically. However, the M_HOLD menu selection provides a restart window within which, if the incoming signal disappears, the scanner will resume. This allows scanning to proceed if the squelch is opened by a brief incoming signal.

Setting the Scan-Stop technique for a bank

S-LvlScan In this mode the scanner will stop on a signal exceeding the S-meter level specified in the Level column. Enter a Y in this column to activate S-Meter mode, else enter a N.

VCS In this mode the scanner will stop on a signal which contains a voice signal. Enter a Y in this column to activate Voice mode, else enter a N.

else If both the S-LvlScan column and VCS column contain N then the scanner will stop on a signal that opens the squelch.

Level See S-LvlScan above

Prot Y = entry is protected from change, N = entry is not protected from change
